My Pets: Maldi and Vomit

When I was a kid, maybe around 9 years old or older, we had a dog, we named it Mojacko, her nickname is Moja. I know you know Mojacko as he is a famous Japanese cartoon character that time. I don't know what breed of dog she was before. Even until now, I can't see her physical appearance to the list of dog breed. She can be a mixed breed of white dog breed. She was pure white, she can be Maltese breed but her size was too big for Maltese.

UPDATED: I saw her picture now! This was her picture. :) I miss Moja!

Anyway, what I remembered of her were her kindness, lovely and very loyal dog to our family. She reached around 12 to 13 years old (which is 84 to 91 years old for human years). It was really a saddened story as she was lost around that time. We looked at her the whole area but we cannot see her. It feels like she didn't want us to be sad and lonely when she was gone. Until now, I am so sad that we didn't give her a proper resting place and properly say goodbye.

Before Mojacko came to our lives, there was "Sugar". I remembered her that was around  January 1990 ( I was 5 years old that), Sugar is on her whelping stage when there was an accident in our area. There was a fire beside our wooden apartment. At my young age, I don't see life and situation as wide as now. I was grabbed by my mother to get out the apartment and be safe. Fortunately, no one hurt to my little brother, my sister, my mother and me. But, our Sugar, died together with her newly born puppies. We tried to rescue her but as you know when a dog delivered her puppies, she was so protected and she don't want anyone to be close to her and to her babies. So, she ended up burnt together with our house. Oh sad.

Many years passed, we decided not to get any pets around the house as everyone is busy working and studying.

Last 2012, I decided to have my own pets. Actually I don't treat them (yes they are two puppies!) as pets.. they are my family. First, we bought Vomit as our first dog. I know you are wondering why Vomit. It was like Eeeww name. :) Well, We named our puppies based on their initial behaviors or characteristics. We picked up Vomit to the breeder in Quezon City (I guess that was in Novaliches), and we are residing from Manila. To think that from Manila to Quezon City is too far for me. First, we rode on tricycle to get out the subdivision where the breeder resides. It was a bumpy ride so after we ride off the tryke, Vomit vomited. Now you know. But that was not yet the end. So, we took FX to go to North Edsa so we can go by train or bus. After FX, Vomit vomited again. Since, no pets allowed on train, we decided to take bus going to Guadalupe. But Vomit started to vomit again like twice, his puppy bag was full of you know. So we decided to carry him until we reach Greenhills. We rest for the mean time at McDonalds and have his drink. He is so shy puppy and of course, cute! In this case, I can't no longer let him vomit again, so I called my father to pick us up in Greenhills using my car to go home.

This was his first day as a member of the family:

Vomit @ 2 monhs old

He was so quiet and shy-type, maybe he is familiarizing our new smells. :)

After a month or two, we decided to get a girl, so we will have a pair of maltese.

We also bought my second pup via breeder too. The breeder looked decent and professional. There are two pups that we will be choosing and we decided to get the smaller one.

What is her name? Maldi. :)

Maldi short name for Maldi. Since we have Vomit, Maldi is not a shy-type one, she is very jolly and didn't vomit at all. She enjoyed the travel from Paranaque to Manila.

By the way, her first pictures as our second member of my family pet. :)

Having a pet requires time. Yes. Time that can raise 2 kids at the same time. I am serious. I am treating them as my kids so I always have this mindset that always give the best for your kids.

We had an ups and downs with my pups. They almost visit Vet Clinic every month when they were in their first year. So we conclude that their first year is really an eye to eye observation in all aspects of their growing up. From foods, hygiene, vaccinations, deworming, exercise, health, etc. Once they completed the first cycle of vaccinations, and continuous deworming, and of course, tender loving care, they are grown cuties. :)

Their first time to join a public dog fashion show. :) Sponsored by Pet Express and Good Boy

Having their photoshoot before I change my bed sheet. :)

Being a competitive owners, we also joined dog events and exhibits. We also loved joining to contest such as Dog Quiz Bee. And what are the prizes?

Alpo and Good Boy Dog food supplies, Dog accessories and MORE!

Being with them is like heaven for me. Everytime I go home, they smelled me even i am in front of the main door. They started to bark and aggressively waiting for me to welcome them.

As of today, Vomit and Maldi are 2 years old now (Human Years) and last December 2013, Maldi delivered 4 cutie male maltese. I will feature them on my next blog. For a picture teaser, here they are:

buong katapatan..
buong puso..
at
buong pananalig sa Diyos…..

SAP4LESS Project#1 T-Shirt Resize

This is my first blog for my new section on my blog- SAP4LESS. Why SAP4LESS? Strike-A-Pose 4 (for) less is what I mean. You can have your own fashion in thrifty and money saving ways. You don't have to spend more money for you to be dandy enough. This new section focuses on tips, sewing projects, new creations, and everything under fashion. So you can use this section as your guide for SAP4LESS.

This month, I bought a sewing machine as a gift to myself this year. I had many challenges in my life and experienced roller coaster. But this year, more on down ward position. I hope next year will be a fruitful and best year.

By the way, I bought Singer Promise 1408. It is their entry level household sewing machine.

My New Singer Promise 1408

Finally! I got you!

Why I bought a sewing machine? Hmm. To give you a brief background, I love sketching especially women and menswear. Aside from drawing some portraits and landscapes, I am fond of sketching trousers, coats, gowns, dresses, etc. and even shoes! Haha. But look what I am doing professionally, I am an IT Expert. Well, this is my creative side. My profession is an IT Expert but my hobby is designing!

Enough about me. As my first project using this sewing machine, I opened my wardrobe, dug all my old clothes especially my tees and look for oversize shirts. Normally, our relatives from abroad always give american size shirts as pasalubong (giveaways).

One of the sample is this:

An XL shirt

Proof: XL size. Yay!
What do we need for this project:

  • Sewing Machine
  • Tape Measure or Ruler or any measuring tools.
  • Tailor chalk (white for colored shirts, orange/dark for white/light colored shirts)
  • Pin with head (plastic or glass heads)
  • Cutting shears (for fabric only)
  • Threads depending on what color of shirt you will be re-sizing.
  • Cutting mat or board. (I used our bed so I can use the whole bed size as BIG pin cushion. LOL)
  • Preferred shirt as your model/reference in re-sizing your large shirt.
1. Get the large shirt, turn inside out and lay it on the mat/board. Make sure every aspect of the shirt is flattened to get the accurate size of the shirt. Same thing with your preferred shirt, turn inside out. Lay the preferred shirt against the large shirt in mirror position (back to back). Pin them so the position of both shirts are in place.

 2. I draw the edges of the preferred shirt without the sleeves part. I used white tailor chalk so I can visibly see them on my large shirt. (white chalk on dark-colored shirts, and orange/black/yellow chalk for white one). We always put allowance at least an inch for edging or if you want double stitch for edging.

3. After putting the preferred size (without sleeves part) using tailor's chalk.

4. Cut the excess fabric of the overly sized shirt. Better use fabric shears. :)

5. Now, it is time for sleeves! Pattern the sleeves on top of the over sized shirt's sleeves. Use pins to make sure you have the right measurement and sizes all around the sleeves.

6. Of course, allowances on this side. Then remove the preferred shirt size.

7. Now, you have two sleeves and the sleeveless shirt. all are with allowances where you will sew it together.

8. Open the sleeveless shirt widely on the floor in this position (A) and pin the sleeves in this way (B)

(A)
(B)
9. Once done, after connecting both sleeves to the shirt, you are ready to sew!

10. I started sewing the sleeves part as this is a little difficult especially when you cut the sleeves not matched with the main shirt.

11. After you sew it, you can now edge stitch the remaining allowance. (I always use zigzag pattern even in the bottom part of the shirt)

12. Now! I can use it... :)

Being my first time to resize a shirt, it spent at least 2-3 hours to finish one. But I am happy with the result.

Now, I saved at least 400 pesos or more for new shirt.

Argh! I still have two boxes of shirts, long sleeves, and pants to resize. hahaha.
